WHere is a home-style take on a drink found on the seasonal drinks list. Designed as a batch pre-mixed that's loaded full of tastes of a Christmas time, which makes it ideal for hosting a celebration. Reserve the remaining syrup you can use for morning drinks, sweets, or to make more rounds of the drink.
Makes enough for 10 servings
300ml newly squeezed clementine juice
200ml recently pressed lemon juice
500g fine sugar
400ml decent vodka
100ml dry gin
150ml peach-flavored liqueur
200ml citrus syrup (from the recipe above)
A few cranberries, to garnish
Mandarin essential oil, to finish
To prepare the Cordial: Put the listed items into a pan, heat until it reaches a gentle boil, mixing to dissolve. Next, take off the heat allowing it to reach room temperature entirely. Pour into an sterilised bottle, cap it and refrigerate it in the refrigerator, it will last for around one month.
To make Batch Mix: Combine all the spirits and syrup in a sizeable container, allow it to infuse for one hour, then strain best through a fine cloth, so it's perfectly clear.
When ready to serve: Add 85ml from the cocktail base to a cocktail shaker containing ice, and agitate lightly for about 60 seconds to cool it down. Strain into an chilled martini glass or a similar vessel, top with some cranberries and complete it with a quick spritz of the essential oil over the drink.
