I will overwhelm 'credible boxer' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the pair confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Ex twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge mismatch - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to damage his features and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to genuinely try to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a calm Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - normally known for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, criticized UK rival Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.

Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Still, the novice continues to be one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making huge financial rewards.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a KO victory in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Disparity

As both boxers participated in the usual face-off, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really going ahead.
